Musoma Technical Secondary School- Mara

Meet Kisale Ng'Habi Kasululu And Daniel Samwel Milinga from Musoma Technical Secondary School, who are developing their project: "A Comparative Design and Performance Evaluation of Pure Wooden and Hybrid Bridges Using Steel Wires and Ice Cream Sticks.".

This project compares the structural performance of a pure wooden bridge made from ice cream sticks and a hybrid model reinforced with steel wires. Two identical bridges will be constructed to test their load capacity and failure modes using materials like ice cream sticks, steel wires, chopsticks, and epoxy adhesive. Static load testing will determine their maximum load support and deflection. The hybrid bridge is expected to support a higher load with less deflection, indicating that hybrid designs are preferable in high-traffic areas.

By combining scientific investigation with practical problem-solving, these students are demonstrating how innovative research can contribute to community well-being and sustainable development.

We are proud to see young scientists using science to create positive change in their communities!
