Wama Sharaf Secondary School - Lindi

Meet Salome Stephano Musa & Sarah Mustapha Omari from Wama Sharaf Secondary School, who are developing their project: "Development of a Natural Ash-based Pesticide for Sustainable Crop Protection".

Their study explores the use of wood ash as a natural pesticide for controlling crop pests in a safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly way. By preparing a solution from wood ash and water and applying it to crops through spraying, the students investigated its ability to repel and reduce harmful insects affecting plant growth. The project highlights the potential of locally available materials to provide alternatives to chemical supporting eco-friendly farming practices and agricultural productivity in tanzania. Sustainable

By combining scientific investigation with practical problem-solving, these students are demonstrating how innovative research can contribute to community well-being and sustainable development.

We are proud to see young scientists using science to create positive change in their communities!
