THE YST WINNERS DELEGATION TO IRELAND - 5TH TO 10TH JAN 2016 Gala Dinner

Dr Kamugisha and Joseph Clowry were invited at the BTYSTE Gala. Joseph Clowry, YST Co-founder and Director, was a special guest at the dinner along with Dr. Tony Scott, Co-founder of YS Ireland and John Monahan, the first winner of the exhibition in Ireland in 1965. The three special guests received a standing ovation and were interviewed by Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain at a Fireside Chat at the Gala Dinner. Dr. Scott explained how the project began in Ireland over 52 years ago and Mr. Monahan explained the impact on his life by winning the first ever YS.

Joseph Clowry explained how his work in Ireland led to the idea of transferring the Young Scientist to Tanzania and he explained how he brought the idea to Tanzania and how it has grown to a national exhibition on Tanzania. He also explained the importance of the Science outreach component of the YST project.

YST was also honoured at the Gala Dinner, when the invited guests were shown a video by the Nkuppi Bros which documented the return of Edwin and John to their school, following their award of YST 2015 overall winners.
